Visit to Manchester by Delegation of Senior Local Government Officials from Gomel
A Reception in Manchester Town Hall with Lord Mayor June Hitchen was the final meeting of a very busy and informative week for our visitors from Belarus in March. They were Vladimir Privalov, Deputy Governor of Gomel Region; Sergei Paroshin, Director of Education; and Piotr Shutko, Director of Social Protection.
They met many people in Adult Social Care in Stockport who spoke to them about all aspects of care and support for adults with learning disabilities; Children’s Services and Fostering Services in Stockport; leaders of the new Health and Social Care organisation in Manchester; Pure Innovations and Turning Point; visited Inscape School, Ashcroft School and service provision managers at the Together Trust; went to Pictor Academy and the Royal College at Seashell Trust; and saw various types of accommodation for adults with disabilities.
They have gone back home with a greater understanding of what they ought to be trying to achieve for people with disabilities in the Gomel Region of Belarus, and hopefully some ideas of steps they could take in the near future.
