CHERNOBYL CHILDREN'S PROJECT (UK)

Every summer since 1998 we have taken over 100 children with disabilities to a Holiday Camp or ‘Sanatorium’ in Belarus for a three week holiday. Some of the children live at Zhuravichi Orphanage and others live at Rechitsa Boarding School for Children with Cerebral Palsy. Volunteers from Britain and Belarus make sure that the children have a wonderfully happy holiday.

A few years ago we started inviting Belarusian volunteers to the camp who were studying at the Pedagogical University in Minsk. The activities for the camp are decided by all the volunteers, and it’s great for lots of the kids to have someone they can chat with in their native language!
