Ten of our wonderful volunteers are collectively walking/running/cycling/swimming the length of Belarus (350 miles north to south) to raise money for Chernobyl Children’s Project (UK).
The Chernobyl disaster of April 1986 continues to affect many generations of families living within Belarus, the country worst affected by the disaster. Many children have been, and continue to be, born with genetic disorders, cancer and disabilities and are living in institutions. CCP(UK) works to provide recuperative holidays and social and educational opportunities for children and young adults with the goal to move them out of these institutions. We also provide education and training for the families and carers of these children.
This month our volunteers would have been travelling to sanatoriums in Belarus to provide recuperative holidays for children and young adults with disabilities. For some of these children, this is the only holiday they get every few years. However, due to the current COVID-19 pandemic they have not been able to go. Instead they have organised this fundraiser to try and raise funds to help ensure CCP’s vital work in the Gomel region of Belarus can continue.
Any donation small or large will be hugely appreciated! Donations can be made through our JustGiving page where you will also be able to see the team of volunteers taking part:
