Holt prepared a major training programme for this Autumn, for the directors
of Orphanages and Childrens Shelters, for foster carers and for the staff
at the Abandoned Babies Home. Geoff Wright gave the training for directors with
Jean and staff from North Yorkshire County Council were also in the training
team. All this happened at the same time as a major publicity campaign to recruit foster families in Gomel Region .There were radio and TV programmes; an ad on the back of a trolleybus and a leaflet and newspaper which were widely distributed. Also in October Sue Carlyon, who has been instrumental in bringing children from Zhuravichi to Britain to help their development, gave training course in symbol communication in Gomel, and a physiotherapist from Devon visited Zhuravichi. |
