Cloud Nine - our new project
We have been offered a disused Kindergarten by the Education Department in Gomel, which we plan to convert over the next few months into a home for young children, mostly with cerebral palsy. Most of these children will come from Zhuravichi, but we hope to bring a few from the Abandoned Babies Home. We plan to accommodate about eighteen children of 2 - 10 years.
Because they are so delighted with what we have achieved at Family Home 2000 the Directors of Education and Social Protection have offered us another building, part of a sanatorium in beautiful woodland which they will renovate for us next year. If we can find sufficient funding we will turn this into a second children's home, which will include children with Downs Syndrome.
Most of the funding for this project will come from the Harris-Lamb Ball which will be held in Solihull in October, with additional support from other members of our group in Solihull.
