In early May we brought the Director of Health for Gomel Region, with
the chief doctors of the two main regional hospitals, on a visit to Britain.
They went to neo natal units, intensive care departments, ambulance stations
and special schools. As a result of this visit they decided 1) that babies
will not be swaddled in their hospitals if we provide enough baby clothes
2) that childrens wards will be brightly decorated and hung with
mobiles if we help with this and 3) that they will look at the possibility
of providing more medical care within the community, especially in schools.
This might help to keep some children out of hospital
