Educational visits programme set to expand
This year we will be organising more educational visits to the UK than ever before as these have proved such a useful way of introducing new ideas, attitudes and working practices amongst the organisations and institutions we work with in Belarus. In January we received a visit from two of the women who will be involved in the new Rehabilitation Centre in Gomel and the Deputy Head of Education for the region, who is responsible for building work. He will work closely with us on the renovation programme, so he was interested to see building practices in Britain and also to learn more about the facilities we have for children with disabilities. He was greatly moved by the dedication he saw amongst staff at the Royal Schools for the Deaf in Manchester and Galia and Svieta were also impressed by their visits to Milestone School in Gloucester, (picture) the Star Centre in Cheltenham and Dame Hannah Rogers and Woodlands Schools in Devon. They went back to Belarus full of ideas to incorporate into their centre.
