Children’s hospice visit

In December we brought to Britain a group of hospice staff to visit children's hospices and meet CLIC, Diana, Marie Curie and Macmillan Nurses. They were: Tanya, the doctor from the small children's hospice in Vitebsk; Zhanna, who manages 'our' hospice in Gomel and Alla, the psychologist/social worker from Gomel Hospice, accompanied by Lilia, who works with us at the Education Fund, as interpreter.
They visited Frances House in Manchester, Martin House in Wetherby and Hope House in Oswestry, and Jean Davies, who manages Nursing Services for Sick Children in North Wales, organised a further programme of visits for them in Wales. In April Jean will make her second visit to Belarus to talk with staff at the hospice in Minsk, visit Vitebsk and also Brest, where it is hoped the next children's hospice will soon be established.
In March Igor Iscrov, the doctor from the hospice in Gomel spoke at the Conference organised by the Belarussian Embassy and we hope that after hearing him other charities may be encouraged to support the children's hospice movement in Belarus. Home hospices are greatly needed in Mogilev, Grodno and the south of Gomel Region.
