Our new group in Wimborne, Dorset hosted Belarusian children from a village near Svetlagorsk for two weeks this summer. On Saturday, the children said goodbye to their host families and travelled north to Solihull for the last part of their holiday.
“They were delightful children,’ said group Co-ordinator Barbara Lawley, “we are looking forward to next year already!’ The children all come from a village which was left contaminated by radioactive fallout from the Chernobyl disaster and the holiday will give a great boost to their immune systems. Belarus is a landlocked country so the children particularly enjoyed visits to the seaside, a first for many! They are pictured here on a visit to Wimborne’s Model Town.
