Glossop

Glossopdale Group has been established since 1995, first hosting school age children several times a year. From 1997 we hosted the very first group of young children under 8 years, all in remission from various cancers and accompanied by their mothers. This experience was so successful it was decided to offer other groups the same opportunity.

This summer 2010 Glossop hosted five young children and their mothers for the first half of their holiday, sharing this year with the South Manchester Group.

Three of the children have diabetes and two were from the Minsk-based cancer charity ‘Children in Trouble’. The children had a wonderful time, going to Chatsworth, visiting the seaside and taking part in many local activities.

Ghenya came with his grandma as he lost his mother to cancer when she was just 21. Ghenya has cerebral palsy and major hearing problems. Thanks to the generosity of one of the Manchester families, his grandma returned home with the funds to buy the hearing aid he desperately needs.

Band Night Big Success

Posted: April 21, 2010

On the 12th March a dance was held at Dukinfield Town Hall,  Greater Manchester, to raise much needed funds for the organisation. The event was made possible due to two friends,  Trevor Whiteley and Clive Easteal along with their wives,  getting together and organising the whole thing.

With the booking of the Tony Greenwood Big Band, the premier big band in the North West, along with some two hundred tickets sold, the event was a huge success.

Trevor and Clive were also able to raise support and sponsorship from local businesses and this created some wonderful raffle prizes on the night. In total the sum raised on the night was £2,700. This large boost to our funds will enable us to continue our work and bring children over to the UK for some much needed holidays.

With the event being such a success Trevor and Clive have been persuaded to hold another dance next year. They have therefore booked the same venue and the date for your diary is Friday 25th March 2011. Book your place now to avoid disappointment!
