Chernobyl Children’s Project (UK) was launched in Manchester in 1995. The charity now includes around 25 groups in England, Scotland and Wales.

Each summer we provide month long recuperative holidays in the UK for about 250 children from Belarus. And we organise a holiday in a clean part of Belarus for children who cannot come to the UK.
CCP (UK) delivers four convoys of humanitarian aid to Belarus every year. We also purchase urgently needed medicines for the Children’s Cancer Hospital in Minsk and support the Children’s Hospice Movement.
During the last ten years we have had a major training programme which has helped to reduce the numbers of children in the orphanages and to prepare suitable local foster families.

Much of our work focuses on improving the educational and social opportunities for children and young people with disabilities. We fund extra staff at Zhuravichi Orphanage, have set up small family homes for children and young adults, established the first respite care facility in Belarus and we are promoting integration of children with physical disabilities into maintream school.
