First Group of Mums and Children Arrive

Sunday 19th May we welcome our first group of the year, 5 mums and 6 children. The group will come and stay with host families in Endon and Stoke.

Volunteering in Belarus this Summer!

These are some of the volunteers who will be going to Zhuravichi Children’s Home and Vikov Boarding Home this summer to provide some holiday fun for the children and young people who can’t go to the Holiday Camp. They took part in a Training Weekend for the summer at Denis Moors’ High Ash Farm Centre near Buxton, along with the volunteers who will be going to the camp. This is the fifteenth summer we have sent out volunteers to work with children with disabilities to make sure they have a holiday to remember. To find out more about volunteering click here.

Recuperative Holidays

Our groups are now well underway with preparations to receive children from Belarus for a recuperative holiday in the summer. Our first group to arrive will be 5 mums and children who will stay with families in Endon. They arrive on 18^th May and will enjoy lots of activities, including a trip to the seaside, which is always a special day for the children. Doctors in Belarus say that recuperative holidays boost children’s immune systems for at least two years, helping them to resist, or recover from, serious illness. In the summer, when the dust causes radiation levels to rise, it is important for as many children as possible to leave their contaminated homeland for a few weeks of fresh air and clean food. This summer we are bringing over 150 children and teenagers to Britain for a recuperative holiday. We are always looking for new host families to host children or volunteers who can help in other ways. 27 Years After Chernobyl the Suffering Goes On

As people remember Chernobyl on the 27th anniversary, for many of the children and families in Belarus it is impossible for them to forget.
