At the end of a busy week in Manchester, Dr Nihal Fernando of Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust meets Igor Baranov, Head of Gomel Regional Health Department; Alexander Tstiko, Chief Doctor of the Regional Psychiatric Hospital; and Natasha Samoilik, Head of CCP’s partner organisation in Gomel. The doctors had met psychiatrists and many other mental health care professionals, the majority of whom work for Pennine Care. They had seen inpatient services and learned about mental health care in the community. They also visited Inscape House School for children with autism; Douglas House in Didsbury, which belongs to Turning Point; Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital; Wythenshawe Hospital A&E Department and Francis House Children’s Hospice. Many thanks to all those who gave their time and expertise to make this such a successful and useful visit. Igor and Alexander have gone home with much to think about and with ideas about how small but important changes could be made very soon, and futher significant change looked at for the future.
