Student, Adam Lyons at Bridge College in Manchester shows Deputy Minister of Social Protection Alexander Rumak, and his colleagues, how he uses his communication aid. Mr Rumak spent a week in the UK with a colleague from the Ministry and the heads of two non governmental organisations in Belarus. They talked to Stockport Adult Care Services; met the Lord Mayor of Manchester; visited supported living accommodation; heard about respite care, adult placement and supported work opportunities from non governmental organisations; and visited Mencap and Turning Point in London. The group agreed that that the key message from everyone they had spoken to was that every service user should be treated as an individual and services tailored to meet his needs. They hope to put many new ideas into practice in Belarus. To read more about their visit click here.
