March Convoy goes ahead

We have two vehicles leaving for Belarus on Sunday 21st March and planning is now in the final stages.

Both manifests are in BY and one translation (and alteration) has been returned for signing and stamping before returning to BY. The Ferry is booked and awaiting confirmation.

Passports with relevant visas have been returned from the embassy
Insurances checked and now there is just the dock agency to contact two days prior to leaving.

Alan reports that his vehicle is serviced, painted and ready to roll and likewise Ian is busy bringing his unit back into service after it was stolen, damaged and found. Paul reports that the step trailer is under service and will be ready on the day. So all things are GO!

The lead truck will be Ian Lacy and Peter Stoddart. Peter is making his first visit to BY and will be the ‘official’ photographer on route ( not in the customs areas ) and it will be good to have his copy disc on return. Ian’s unit is pulling the step trailer and is heading for Gomel where Valentina at the Co-ordination centre  will be the receiver. The co-ordination centre has many needy families on there books and also kindergartens and family associations. The aid she receives will be distributed across a wide range of people and families. The co-ordination centre will also receive and distribute aid for an organisation in Yelsk, the village of Teliashi, the village of Korma and the diabetic association in Gomel.

On the second vehicle will be Alan Wade and Bob Beech who, once inside BY will travel North East into the Mogiliev region where the goods will be received by School No 2 in Cherikov. This school will also receive and distribute aid for a school in Belanichi, a disabled unit in Cherikov and a children’s home in Mogilev.

Both loads will be stored in a temporary customs store at both receivers until the process of checking and documentation is complete, a process that will take maybe eight weeks.

We wish Ian and the team a good and safe journey.

Meanwhile we now have two further trailers at home that are loaded and manifested (documents on the computer) and we will plan hopefully to take these out in May/June subject to available funds.
